Goodwill Visits

Goodwill Visits

Since becoming sister cities, in order to deepen exchange between the two cities, Sakai and Berkeley each make goodwill visits to the other. The first delegation came from Berkeley in 1976, and was followed 10 years later by a delegation from Sakai to Berkeley in 1986. Through things like home stays, sightseeing and welcome receptions, these delegations strengthen the bonds between our cities, and deepen our understanding of cultural and life differences. By 2011, Sakai had received 6 delegations and sent 8, and we hope that these continued delegations will form a bridge of internationalization and friendly exchange between our two cities. Many people who participate in these goodwill visits keep in contact even after returning home. Please consider joining in, and participating in international exchange with us!
